The government advice on lockdown easing means that I am able to begin 1-2-1 coaching with people from other households. In addition I can coach groups of up to 6 so long as social distancing is adhered to in both instances.
The Pace Challenge has come to an end. A brilliant and fun way to keep each other motivated through the initial weeks of lockdown. Well done to the individual winners, the pairs winners and the group champions on what was a hilarious and sometimes very serious competition.
As we continue to come out of lockdown the PB Coach athletes continue to train hard for their second 5km summer time trial, 4 weeks or so after their first.
My name is Brian Stopher and I am a UK Athletics qualified running coach, former national athlete and secondary Head of PE, with running and coaching experience spanning 4 decades.
From running my first cross country race at secondary school, to experiencing that euphoric winning feeling for the first time, to that horrible realisation of picking up an injury, I have always enjoyed the highs and lows that running can give. My passion is being able to find ways of making people fitter and stronger to enable them, through my own experiences, to beat their best and be their best.
I started running in my early teens and quickly established myself as a national level athlete over track, cross country and road. I also began my coaching journey at college and became a qualified PE teacher soon after. My teaching career spans 17 years and have had many talented school, county and international athletes under my tutelage.
Coaching people to become better athletes and the joy and satisfaction it brings to both athlete and coach is right at the heart of the PB Coach philosophy. Running can bring so much enjoyment, especially through hard work, and it is those key components that make a successful partnership.
